Brief Profile of Professor Seiichiro Yonekura
Professor Seiichiro Yonekura, born in Japan, is renowned as business think tank globally. He achieved Ph.D in ‘History of Business’ from Harvard University. He has served as ‘Core Faculty of Global Leadership Program’ (An Executive Program for Action Learning), University of Michigan, Professor of Hitotsubashi University, Japan, ‘Dean of Center, Institute of Innovation Research, Hitotsubashi University, and Co-president of Institute of Strategy, Sony Corporation.
Currently, he is undertaking research from an historical vantage point on a comparative business history from the Industrial Revolution to the present, and on the best ways to pursue innovation under Japan’s non-nuclear, low-carbon society strategy.
Professor Seiichiro Yonekura Scholarship Program
BacBon Foundation, a not for profit organization,has been working to bring social development through promoting online and offline e-learning among the underprivileged since 2014.Currently, BacBon Foundation intends to introduce a scholarship program for the poor but meritorious higher secondary students in the honor of Professor Seiichiro Yonekura. It is worth mentioning that, Professor Yonekura has been kind enough to serve as one of the advisors of e-Education project in Bangladesh (which is currently under BacBon Foundation) since its inception in 2010. He has inspired the BacBon team to help out students of rural areas to pursue their dreams of higher education. Building on this legacy, the BacBon Foundation is planning to create a sustainable ‘TrustFund’ of BDT 5,000,000 within next 5 years to support the countryside students in future. The Scholarship money will come from the interest (at 6% interest rate) received each year from the ‘Trust Fund’.

Objective of the Scholarship:
- Stand beside the promising but insolvent students and to inspire them for higher education
- Help higher secondary level students from grade VI-XII
- Reduce dropout rate of poor but meritorious students
- Improve academic performance of Scholarship holders
- Facilitate education service for the disadvantaged students
Who can apply:
- Currently studying at School/College Level
- Committed to pursue higher study
- Committed to participate in improving condition of the other poor students
- Must belong to a poor family or a marginalized group
- Father’s annual income must not be more than 120,000 BDT (150,000 Yen)
- Must be regular in class attendance
Value of Scholarship:
Monthly BDT 1000 (One thousand) will be allocated for each selected student.
Call for Application:
1st January-31st January in each year
Application Procedure:
- Apply in the prescribed application form in the BacBon School App
- Provide documents to justify the economic situation of students (e.g. income certificate, recommendation letter from institution head etc.)
- Provide copy of academic transcript and attendance certificate to justify academic performance
Selection Process:
- Intensive screening process to select the appropriate candidates for the scholarship
- Council of the scholarship committee reserve sole rights to select scholarship students
- The decision of the committee is final
- Scholarship will be distributed in monthly installment during study of the students
